Ministry to the Sick

"Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me." (MT. 25:40)

Our Lady of Mercy, a Ministry to the Sick and Home-bound at St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church Syracuse. NY has been in existence since September 1997.  In the memorable words of our dear Bishop Paul Chomnycky, OSBM, Eparch of Stamford, "We should be very proud of Our Lady of Mercy Ministry as it is a unique ministry in our Eparchy."

Many of our faithful, dedicated, and long-time members who comprised the Ministry have left us for their eternal home with God.  May They Rest In Peace.

Our current members include:  Alice Malick, Coordinator and Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist to the Sick and Home-bound, Rev. Deacon Edward Galvin, Tom Bocon, Fred Bush, Maria Clark, George Chuposka, Heinrich Huegerich, Julie Hulchanski, Karen Long, Mary Seliuk, Patricia Shewchuk, Paul Straka, Mary Ann Suche, Steve Suche, and Helen Zebrowski.

With a spirit of reverence and concern for others, our volunteers on a regular basis, travel willingly with our Pastors throughout the greater Syracuse and outlying areas to provide the corporal and spiritual works of mercy to our home-bound who reside there.  For the sick, the reception of the Holy Eucharist is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by our Catholic community for its members.  Ministry members and our entire loving parish family are kindly asked to pray often for our home-bound and their caregivers.
